Your policy — paste it anywhere
Our shop — Booking & Cancellation Policy DEPOSIT: A $30 deposit is required to confirm your appointment. Your time slot is not reserved until the deposit is received. The deposit is applied toward your final bill. CANCELLATIONS: Plans change — we get it. Please give us at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule at no charge. LATE CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice forfeit the deposit. NO-SHOWS: If we arrive and cannot access the vehicle, or you're not there, the deposit is not refunded and future bookings may require full prepayment. WEATHER: If rain or unsafe conditions make quality work impossible, we'll contact you to reschedule at no charge — you get priority on the next available slot and your deposit carries over. VEHICLE CONDITION: Prices assume average condition. Excessive pet hair, mold, biohazards or heavy soiling may require a revised quote before we start — we'll always tell you first. PAYMENT: We accept Venmo, Cash App, Cash. Balance is due on completion. Booking with Our shop means you agree to the above. Thanks for supporting a small business!
A policy only works if it's enforced automatically. DetailKit puts your deposit and cancellation window into the booking flow itself — clients see the rules before they book, deposits are requested up front, and late-cancel rules apply without an awkward conversation.
Try it free for 14 daysWhy the deposit matters more than the wording
A policy without a deposit is a polite request. The client who books a Saturday full detail and ghosts you didn't read your terms — but if they had $40 on the line, they'd have texted you Thursday. That's the whole mechanism: the deposit doesn't punish cancellations, it causes communication. Pair the wording above with a deposit collected at booking time, and enforce it without apology — clients who value your time won't blink. Setting your prices too? FAQ
Do I really need a cancellation policy as a solo detailer?
Yes — more than a big shop does. When a client no-shows a 4-hour full detail, a shop reshuffles staff; you lose the whole morning and the gas you burned driving there. A written policy plus a small deposit is the difference between a no-show costing you $200 and costing you nothing.
How much should a detailing deposit be?
Enough to hurt to abandon, small enough not to scare off honest clients. $30–50 flat or 25–30% of the job are both common. Make it non-refundable inside your cancellation window (24–48 hours) and always apply it to the final bill.
How do I actually collect deposits without card processing?
Most solo detailers take deposits by Venmo, Cash App or Zelle at booking time: the appointment isn't confirmed until the deposit lands. Booking software can show your handle and the amount on the confirmation page automatically so you don't chase people by text.
What should a mobile detailing weather policy say?
Rain reschedules should be free and initiated by you — clients respect it when you protect the quality of the work. Promise them priority on the next open slot and carry the deposit over. What kills trust is silence: tell them the night before, not when you're supposed to be in their driveway.
Where should I post my policy?
Everywhere a client books or pays: your booking page, Instagram bio link, Facebook page, Google Business Profile, and the booking confirmation message itself. A policy nobody saw before booking is unenforceable in practice — put it in the flow, not in the fine print.
